Changes in the infrastructure of a knee joint can cause abnormal patella tracking. Changes come from Athritis; sprains of ligaments; strains of muscles;Osteoporosis; prior accident or injury and abnormal developement to name a few. The patella is forced to move in an un-natural path, or under abnormal force. The underside of the patella has a layer of cartillage that is uniform in thickness and covers the whole underside of the knee cap.
